Bomb Threat
Bomb Threat: There was a stir in Delhi on Saturday after a bomb threat was received to blow up two big hospitals. Police and fire department immediately reached the spot and started the search operation. The first case is from Dwarka area of south-west Delhi, where Max Hospital received a bomb threat call on Saturday evening.
According to officials, the fire department was informed at 4:47 pm and teams of fire brigade along with police immediately reached the hospital. Shortly after this, Max Hospital located in Shalimar Bagh, North-West Delhi also received a similar threat. Here too, security agencies started a search operation. Special police teams, bomb squads and dog squads were deployed at both the places.
This incident in Delhi happened on the same day when a few hours ago a bomb threat was also sent to the Taj Palace Hotel through email. The police immediately launched a search operation, but no suspicious object was found. After this, it was declared a false information.
Not only Delhi, on Saturday, two famous temples in Kerala, Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple and Attukal Bhagavathi Temple were threatened through email. Security agencies became alert at both the places and the bomb squad reached the spot. However, during investigation, this threat was also found to be baseless.
These incidents happened at a time when proceedings were disrupted on Friday after bomb threats were received at the Delhi High Court and Bombay High Court. On Friday morning, an email was sent to the Delhi High Court claiming that three IEDs had been planted in the premises. The mail was sent from an Outlook account at 8:39 am and was addressed to the staff. As soon as the information was received, the court was evacuated and a massive search operation was carried out. However, no explosives were found and the police later called it a hoax.
These constant threats have increased the concern of security agencies. Police officials say that most of the threats have proved to be fake, but no situation can be taken lightly. Every time, the bomb disposal squad and special teams reach the spot and conduct a thorough investigation.
Delhi Police has appealed to the citizens not to pay heed to rumours or unverified information. Security agencies are monitoring every situation and full vigilance is being maintained to avert any potential threat.
